Giveaway - Matrimony

In the midst of all the excitement of the Baltimore Book Festival and Banned Books Week I almost forgot that I'm giving away a book this week!

Here's your chance to win a signed paperback copy of Joshua Henkin's Matrimony!

This New York Times Notable book is all over the blogosphere right now. I read and reviewed this a few months back. Although it wasn't a favorite of mine, there were MANY others who loved it (my review links to lots of others so you can get some varied opinions). This is YOUR chance to check it out for yourself and make your OWN decision!

To enter the contest, post a comment on this post letting me know which cover you like better, toothbrushes or shoes. The toothbrushes are the hardcover and the shoes are the paperback. The winner gets the paperback ... I just want to know which cover is more appealing to you.

This contest is open to the entire world so go ahead and enter! I'll draw a winner on Oct. 7 - be sure to get your comment posted before then.

  2. Both of them are great! But I prefer the toothbrushes.

  3. I find shoes more appealing, but I wonder if the toothbrushes facing away from each other doesn't communicate more?

Still, the shoes just looks better to me.

  4. I'd like to enter - I like the shoe cover better! Thanks!

  5. I liked both actually. The 2nd one is very obvious, it just clicks. The first one took me 2-3 secs to figure out though.

But then again, the second cover looks more like chick lit, the first one could be anything.

And I am rambling, trust me I can go on and on.

Please enter me into the contest. I would love to win a copy

  6. I think I'm fickle. When I first heard about this book, I saw it with the toothbrush cover and it just really didn't appeal to me. I thought I liked the shoe one better but then...it's just weird. I think the women's shoes look too "little girl-ish" and what's with the ring on the man's shoes? So hmm...I guess I like the bathroom one better...if only for the way the toothbrushes are facing away. Long answer to a short question :) Thanks for the contest!

  7. I'm also giving this away this week, so no need to enter me. I just wanted to weigh in and say that I much prefer the hardback cover with the toothbrushes. There's something so subtle and simple about it. The paperback cover just irks me.

  8. I like the shoes cover better! Thank you for the giveaway!

  9. By far, the toothbrushes. I hate the woman's shoes, and that silly second ring (the first being in the title) just distracts from the whole cover.

  10. I like the toothbrushes better. I like the font and the color palette. I don't hate the shoes, but the toothbrushes appeal to me more.

  11. For some reason, I find the shoes more appealing, even though I think toothbrushes are more symbolic of matrimony. I think I don't like the tub in there. Anyway, both covers are nice.

    Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

  12. I think I'm going to have to go with the shoes. It just seems brighter and more eye-catching perhaps.

And now, yet another chance for me to win this book! :)

  13. I love the toothbrushes the best and I'm in!

  14. Shoes...because I'm all about the shoes.

  15. I like the shoes best, but I think the toothbrushes side by side are more intimate. This sounds like a great book!

  16. I also like the shoes...it would definitely grab your attention in the bookstore more than the toothbrushes. BUT I agree that maybe the toothbrushes might communicate more about the theme of the book. The shoes are more visually appealling, though. Great giveaway!

  17. Don't enter me, but I had to weigh in...I'm sick of shoes on book covers. The toothbrushes are OK...looks like a nice bathroom; don't see any soap scum, mold or roaches.

  18. I like the toothbrushes cover better, I don't know why. Bt the shoes look good, too.

Thank you for the great giveaway!

  19. The toothbrushes have a simplicity and eloquence to them I really like. Also, it's not the sort of image you see on books very often, and the tiny, mundane detail makes it really stand out for me. Shoes are overdone.

  20. I'd love a chance to win! Thanks for the cool contest!

  21. Mmmk...blame it on pregnant brain, but I forgot to say which cover I like better! The toothbrush one is more inviting to me. I don't like the rings on the shoe cover, and the bathroom scene feels more authentically domestic.

  22. Well, I like the look the shoes better, but I think the toothbrushes goes more with the story and title.

    I'd love to be entered!

  23. I much prefer the toothbrushes. Maybe it is because I don't have dainty feet but the shoe one does look like a little girl's shoes to me.

  24. I love the shoe one!

And, I have to add that reading your blog is getting me motivated to start reading again! Thanks!

  25. I like the one on the left better. They both are intriguing, but I'd be more likely to pick up the hard cover copy. It's a really clean look.

    Please enter me

    Thanks!

  26. I love shoes and it would make sense for me to pick the cover with the shoes, but a last it wouldn't be me if i made sense.

I like toothbrushes cover much better. It has to do with the color and the little bit of the mirror showing as well as the unity with the brushes and facet.

  27. I really like the toothbrushes better, but the shoes do have an appeal.
