apologies ...
I apologize to everyone who received an odd email from me saying that I'd been mugged in England. My email account was hacked as part of a money transfer scheme. In addition to sending the fraudulent emails, the hacker also erased my inbox and deleted my contact list. If you recently emailed me something, even if I already responded to you, please send your message again - I want to be sure I'm not overlooking anything. Also, if you'd like me to have your email address again please send me an email and let me know - right now my contact list is very bare.

Note: I have comment moderation enabled for posts more than one month old. I've also had to return to using word verification since the spam comment got out of control. Sorry for making it harder for the rest of you. :(
Oh, yikes! That sucks! Hopefully there wasn't too much lost. Good luck filling up your contact list again!
ReplyDeleteHeather, my yahoo email was hacked a couple months ago so I shut it down. 3 other friends had the same thing happen to their yahoo accounts. You might want to switch to gmail.
ReplyDeleteI knew that had to be what happened. That really sucks! I have a new gmail address specifically for my blog if you want to add it to your contacts...truebookaddict(at)gmail(dot)com
ReplyDeleteUgh. So annoying!
ReplyDeleteNo need to apologize! I think you received a similar email from me awhile back. :-)
ReplyDeleteStoopid hackers.
That is terrible! I got hacked last year and it was horrible!
ReplyDeleteThis same thing happened to me not long ago :( It's horrible! I'm just glad you're not really stuck in England and penniless ;)
ReplyDeleteI perfectly understand! Last week my Paypal account was hacked into. According to Paypal it's iTunes fault & iTunes is blaming Paypal. When I called to complain to Paypal, the CSR told me she'd heard about the credit cards being stolen the week before & changed her passwords. I told her that I thought they should've put out a press release about this! "But it's not our fault - it was iTunes." Brother!
ReplyDeleteFunny you should mention this as I did get a weird email like that last week, and I immediately spam-flagged it.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had to deal with this.
I got that email and put it in spam too. Sorry you're having to go through this mess. My email address is milou2ster (at) gmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteHeather that is a bummer! I have seen that one come through before from other bloggers and from friends around here too.
ReplyDeleteI got one of those but didn't pay attention to the address, just deleted it. I wonder if it was from your account. That sucks but good to know you're not stuck in London and we're all savvy enough not to fall for such a scheme.
ReplyDelete:(
ReplyDeleteI was all ready to call my BFF in England and send her to you to help! I'm sorry that you're account got hacked what a pain in the patoot. But I'm glad you're ok!
Same thing happened to my facebook account over the weekend. I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteWhen I got the e-mail I thought perhaps you'd been hacked. I figured you would have mentioned on your blog if you were going to England and it just didn't sound like you. I am glad are safe and sound.
