No, I too can't condone what she did, but still, I found myself rooting for her. I was surprised to see how much she took charge of the situation. I was used to the gods always interfering I guess, and I loved how it was all about Medea choosing her own course, disturbing as it was!

How fun that we both read it this month!Rebecca Reidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06062252252301802298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807369122559702185.post-87753797857571036372009-12-19T10:55:47.878-05:002009-12-19T10:55:47.878-05:00Stephanie D - It really is a lovely name, but I...Stephanie D - It really is a lovely name, but I'm not sure I could get past the "baggage" it brings ...

Alessandra - I'll check it out, thanks!

Alyce - I've had the best luck with audio versions of the classic Greek tales; good translations being read aloud seem to work well for me. I have read some of the classics (mostly in college) like the Aeneid, and the Iliad, and they were really a lot of work to read (which I think had a lot to do with the translations we were using too). Other than that (and because of that) I have avoided the older works.Alycehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10919057159829023714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7807369122559702185.post-79226987057160605252009-12-18T09:53:59.670-05:002009-12-18T09:53:59.670-05:00May I recommend Medea by Christa Wolf?
