Reading Update

I'm reading/listening to WAY too many things at the moment so of course I'm not FINISHING anything. I hate not having reviews to post ... I simply MUST get some willpower and stop picking up new books before I've completed the old ones. Just so you know I'm not slacking, here's a list of what I have going on right now:

Audio Books
  • The Egyptologist - on my laptop
  • Tides of War - in the car
  • Moll Flanders - in the bathroom (when I'm getting ready for work)
  • Wuthering Heights - on my computer at work - should finish tomorrow
"Real" Books
  • A Sense of the Mysterious - should finish tonight
  • The Secret Doorway - giving up on this one in another day or so
  • Castle Rackrent - during lunch breaks at work
  • The Triumph of Deborah - I lost it twice and finally found it again
  • Gone With the Wind - starting it today for Becky's (Online) Summer Club - anyone want to join us?
Did I mention that I'll be on a fun but busy vacation later this month and that I want to finish all these before I leave? AND I have 7 books I've promised to review between now and the end of the summer plus all the books I plan to read for challenges ... YIKES!

OK, I'm off to finish A Sense of the Mysterious now and gather my thoughts for my review - hopefully you'll see that on Wednesday (which is Kiddo's last day of 1st grade by the way)!

  2. I've been doing the SAME THING! I normally am reading a lot of books, but it's out of control.

Needless to say, I can't join a Gone with the Wind readathon this summer. Nuts.

  3. Isn't Moll Flanders just a hoot sometimes? I liked that book a lot.

  4. I recently watched a film adaptation of Moll Flanders and loved it!

I think you may have inadvertently solved a problem for me with this post. I hate the amount of time I have to spend in the bathroom during my morning routine, especially now that I'm growing my hair out again. (I have super straight hair that a curling iron has yet to prevail over.) Listening to an audiobook during that time would make it much more enjoyable for me.

  5. Amanda - Hopefully I can get them written before my vacation ...

Rebecca - Too bad about GWTW - it is great so far!

Lezlie - I'm loving the language in MOLL FLANDERS. Did you review it recently? I think it was your review that made me want to read it.

Ruth - So glad to be of service. :) I hate having "downtime" and my morning audio book time is a wonderful start to my day.

  6. I plan on reading Gone With the Wind at some point in the next year, I just don't know if I'll have time this summer because I've signed up for so many fun challenges.

I have the opposite problem right now. I have a lot of reviews to write, but my head is all foggy from a bad head cold, and I don't feel like reading much either. I've been watching Star Trek the Next Generation episodes as a treat.

Looks like you have a lot of books to read, have fun :)

  8. Alyce - Yea for Star Trek! Kiddo and I have been watching the original series lately - he loves Kirk and Scotty after seeing the new movie. :)

violetcrush - I'll be looking forward to your review of My Father's Paradise - it looks really good.

  10. I tend to read several books at once too. Last month I tried the one at a time method and it was ok for a book or two but then I'd get to a point where I needed something different and since I was trying to just read one it ended up meaning I didn't read anything. So now I'm back to multiples.

    Lisa - Before blogging, I was a one-book-gal, but now ... well, you've seen my list. :)

  12. Good luck with The Egyptologist. I read this several years ago, and never finished it. I'll be interested to see what you think.

  13. Jenny Girl - It certainly is a UNIQUE book, but I am enjoying it at this point, now that I'm into the story.
