Here are a few more quick reviews ... I'm just about caught up now!
Matched, by Ally Condie - There was a big fuss about this book last year and I basically ignored it because this isn't the type of book I usually read (it's YA dystopian). However, when the audio version popped up as a downloadable option from my library I figured I'd give it a shot. And I have to say ... I quite enjoyed this one! The first part of the book was okay but by the end I was really into it. I'm definitely looking forward to the next book in the series. (9.8 hours)
20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, by Jules Verne - I've mentioned before that I have a literary crush on Jules Verne, and that I love the old movie of this book. I can't believe it's taken me so many years to actually get around to the book. Parts of it were really good but parts of it dragged as well. It was interesting to see how our views of nature have changed since Verne's era. Many times in the book the characters mentioned that the ocean has such an abundance that man will never be able to use it all up - how different than what we know now! I'm glad I listened to this one but it isn't my favorite Verne. (11.5 hours)
Cesar Millan books - I skimmed through both Cesar's Rules and A Member of the Family just after we got Bullet. I didn't read them thoroughly but rather focused on sections that I thought might be helpful. I'm a huge Cesar fan and can't recommend these enough - if you have a dog or want to get a dog, definitely check into Cesar's methods. (320 pages each)

Glad you ended up liking Matched! I enjoyed it too, despite the circumstances.
I've been avoiding Matched for the same reasons. I just finished 20K Under the Sea and didn't love it. I've really loved some of Verne's other books though. I'll have to check out those Cesar books. My husband and I just got a puppy a couple months ago and since then we've gotten compeltely hooked on the Dog Whisperer.
I also liked Matched and look forward to reading the sequel
Matched sounds really good. I hope to read it soon.
Ooo I'd like to check out Caesar's books too. I really love his show although since we don't have TV I haven't seen it in a while. It really helped me dealing with walking 130 pound and 90 pound dogs in New York. I realized my dog really picks up on my body language. If I act nervous he will totally go in the defensive which can be scary. I also learned not slow down or stop when they see another dog and start to bark. Just keep walking or it'll get worse. Keeping them on a routine is a must too, I always had Anna in my left hand and Charlie in my right and reigned them in a lot.
How is your new pup settling in?
I've been thinking of reading MAtched! I agree with you about 20,000 Leagues.
I really enjoyed Matched too. Then again, YA Dystopian is definitely my type of book. :)
Amanda - I was surprised by how much I got into it by the end!
Avid Reader - Definitely get some of Cesar's books - they'll be a GREAT help to you with the new puppy.
Helen - Glad to hear it!
bermudaonion - It's a quick read - you could fit it in over a weekend I think.
Amanda - You haven't read him?! Oh, you'll TOTALLY love his books. And if your library is anything like mine, you can get DVDs of his shows and watch them on your computer ... :) Oh, and I posted a pic on Facebook of me walking Bullet today! Hopefully I'll get more details up about him soon.
Cindy - Have you read any of Verne's other books?
Trisha - Yeah, yeah, yeah. ;)
OK, you made me laugh with the Jules Verne literary crush. Definitely gonna have to read more about that.
I am a HUGE Ceasar Milan fan! I think his techniques with problem dogs (actually, their owners (tee-hee)) are remarkable!
Andi - I know, I'm a bit odd ... ;)
Annie - Always glad to find another fan!
I really enjoy Cesar Millan's books, too. I tend to collect them even though I don't actually have a dog at the moment...
Matched isn't my type either but it is downloadable at my library - maybe I should check it out too!
