I’m so excited about BEA and BBC this year! Having attended last year (check out my recaps!) I feel like I have a good idea what to expect and how to plan. Still, there are some things I’d like to discuss with you.
Is anyone interested in checking out the Pompeii Exhibit at the Discovery Museum on Tuesday afternoon? I’ve been to NYC a bunch of times so I didn’t plan any sightseeing last year. BAD IDEA, because I ended up missing out on the amazing King Tut exhibit! So I definitely want to see this exhibit. I mean, this is Pompeii we’re talking about! You can check out the details at this link. Leave me a comment or shoot me an email/tweet if you are interesting in coming to this exhibit with me.
If you are a local and were planning to commute to BEA, consider staying with us for a night or three! We have a great rate and are very close to the convention center. Plus we’re cool gals. :) [UPDATE: We may have filled the spot but it's not certain yet - please let me know if you are interested!]
I’m moderating a panel at BBC on Friday at 1pm. The topic is “Navigating the Grey Areas of Blogging.” We’ll be discussing the author/blogger relationship, negative reviews, professionalism, and much more. Do you have any topics or issues you’d like us to address? Are there certain aspects of blogging that you find tricky or hard to handle? Leave a comment or email/tweet me and I’ll make sure we include it!
And finally, I’ve been scouring the BEA site and working out a plan of attack for my time on the convention floor, however I know I’m missing things. I’d love to hear from each of you with the top one or two books/authors that you don’t want to miss. Let me know which ones I might have accidentally overlooked.
So that's all I've got - I can't wait to hear what you all think!

Just found out I am going - so I will have to check out your comments to see what others say! I am mostly looking for panels to go to. Really hope I get to meet you!
I just discovered your blog through the BEA feed. I'm a new blogger, and going for the first time, so thank you for all of your posts about it. I'm almost starting to feel--dare I say it!?--prepared! I hope I get to run into you in NYC!
I'm just starting to get everything figured out for BEA! I know I'm excited to see Maris de los Santos and Craig Thompson on Wednesday, but I've been lazy about poking around the schedule so far.
I am so behind.. just today I layed out what I had committed to and hoped for no overlap. I may be interested in the Discovery Museum but I am not sure about Tuesday afternoon... are you there on Monday?
I am going to the Harry Potter exhibit with Reagan at some point during the week.
I did see the King Tut Exhibit last year and it was awesome!
caitieflum - So glad you get the chance to attend! If you don't see me before Friday, look for me at the "Grey Areas" panel and definitely come say hello - I'd love to meet you.
Audrey - What a treat to get to go to BEA as a new blogger! I wish I'd had that opportunity - it would have gotten me even more excited about my blog back then. :) Looking forward to meeting you too!
Kim - That's how I feel as well - lazy. I was so much better prepared last year and I'm running out of time to prepare now ... oops.
Sheila - I get in on Tuesday morning so Pompeii has to be Tuesday afternoon. I'd love to have you join me if you can! There is a discount if you buy tickets for both Pompeii and Harry Potter, though I'm not sure if they have to be used the same day?
