Friday Finds 10/15/10

Here are a few of the books that have caught my attention over the past several months (I'm REALLY trying to get caught up on this ...):




The Breaking of Eggs, by Jim Powell - a Communist-era travel guide writer struggles to deal with the fall of the Berlin Wall - found at Caribousmom








The Wave, by Susan Casey - non-fiction about the power of rogue waves - found at Books on the Nightstand







The Kitchen House, by  Kathleen Grissom - "When a white servant girl violates the order of plantation society, she unleashes a tragedy that exposes the worst and best in the people she has come to call her family." - found at Booking Mama







The Report, by Jessica Francis Kane - "the story of Britain’s worst civilian disaster during World War II, The Bethnal Green incident, and the subsequent government investigation and report"  - found at Devourer of Books





Ship Breaker, by Paulo Bacigalupi - it's a dystopian YA novel, a genre that I'm always drawn to but generally don't enjoy, so I'm not sure that I expect to like this one but it interests me - found a Darren's Bookshelf







Adam & Eve: A Novel, by Sena Jeter Naslund - definitely NOT a Bible story, but with ties to the Biblical story of creation, and set in the future - found at Library's Cat




 
The Fate of Nature, by Charles Wohlforth - "If I had to review this book in one sentence I would say “environmentalism for conservatives.” Sounds like the perfect book for me! - found at Amy Reads








Mr. Rosenblum Dreams In English, by Natasha Solomons - in post-WWII England a German couple tries to adapt to their new life - found at She is Too Fond of Books





Ten Degrees of Reckoning, by Hester Rumburg - true story of a sailing disaster - found at Best Fish Reads
