Hello all,I was lucky to get an ARC of Matters of Faith directly from Kristy earlier this summer. I reviewed it here and interviewed Kristy here. I even gave away a brand new copy to a blogger in Italy.
I am absolutely delighted to report that my new novel, Matters of Faith, has been chosen as an IndieBound Notable Pick for September. The book comes out August 5th, and I thought I'd missed my shot, so it was a truly wonderful surprise.
For those who are friends and not in the industry, IndieBound is a part of the American Booksellers Association, which is the national organization for independent bookstores (and you've ALL heard me supporting the indies!). Every month they produce a list of the titles they feel deserve special attention from their booksellers. Considering the number of titles they have to choose from every month, this is truly an incredible honor, and I am beside myself.
For those in the industry, hey, you know what this means!
For the independent booksellers who have gone out of their way to support me, I am so humbled and grateful, and thank you from the bottom of my chocolate-coated heart.
My very best wishes to you all,
Kristy Kiernan
I'm thrilled that this book is getting such wonderful attention from the book world. Congratulations Kristy!
Now a question for my readers ... does this information make you want to read this book? Do you pay attention to the Indie Bookstore lists, or the NY Times bestseller lists, or any book lists out there? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I pay attention to a lot of lists but of course..there are so many out there that I am sure I am missing quite a few of them. I regularly check out the NY Times list but am often disappointed with the LA Times even though I am an LA girl. Seeing a book on a list is all I need to be curious about a book.
Well, I don't pay attention to lists in general :-) but I am a fervent supporter of independent bookstores, so the idea that a book has been picked by the ABA definitely intrigues me. In fact, the idea that such a list exists at all intrigues me!
I agree with Julia that I do like supporting independent bookstores. But I do check out lists knowing that not every book on those lists I will like but they are usually well written. So I guess yeah, seeing a book on a list does peak my curiosity.
I don't usually pay much attention to lists... but now I'm even more excited for my book to arrive! Thank you again!
Hey! Thanks for passing my good news along! Having spent most of my childhood in bookstores that would today be considered "indies" I've always been a passionate fan, so feeling a little love back is especially wonderful.
Very interesting to see whether people pay attention to lists. Before I was a writer I didn't pay much attention, but I sure do now!
I don't pay much attention to lists, but I feel the same way as Julie about independent bookstores.
I hate to admit that I pay attention to the New York Times list, Publisher's Weekly, and Oprah's book club list...but not the Indie one, despite my self-proclamation of loving and seeking out all things Indie. *shakes head, and is ashamed*
