Snowfall Update

Just letting you all know that we're surviving the blizzard here in Maryland. Between the snowfall we got over the weekend and what we got last night/today, there is now about 40" of snow on the ground here. That is so far out of the norm for us that it isn't even funny. Baltimore (10 minutes north of us) is in a stage 3 state of emergency which means that only emergency vehicles are allowed on the roads. Snowplows were pulled off Maryland roads today due to the whiteout conditions. THIS IS CRAZY! We're very thankful not to have lost power at all (yet!) and to be safe, warm, and healthy at home.

I haven't had much time on the computer because I've had to find things to keep Kiddo busy inside (it's too cold and windy to be outside for long). And it looks like we'll have more of this soon - there's supposed to be another storm arriving on Monday/Tuesday. Oh joy.

I'll try to post pictures soon, and maybe some video as well. Honestly I haven't been outside much yet. But it looks like we may be taking a family walk up to 7-11 later today, just to get out of the house for a while ... we'll see how it feels outside, then we'll decide. If we do head out I'll be sure to take lots of pictures to show you all the craziness that's going on over here.

Our son's in the New River Valley of Virginia and he sent us a text last night that they'd lost their power. Not sure if they have it back yet. I looked at the campus webcam this morning and it's still snowing there, so you might have more on the way as well. Stay warm and safe!

Wow, so crazy. It sounds kind of exciting, but I imagine it can get really old after too long.

Totally covered up here in philly! I listened to your show and even tried to call in, but my call didn't seem to come through! It was really a great show! Stay warm!

So glad to hear that you're all warm and doing okay...even if you're snowed in!

We've only got 29" here, and I'm SO over it.

That is crazy! I heard yesterday that D.C. airport had to close. Bloomberg closed the schools yesterday but while we got some snow, I think we missed the huge blizzard they were expecting.

I can't wait to see your pictures!

It's hard to imagine what it would be like to have that much snow! The only time I've even seen that much is when we went up to Mount Hood last year. I hope you guys stay safe and warm, and manage to keep from going stir-crazy! I look forward to photos!

would love to see photos! I hope everyone is safe there. I feel (almost) guilty at the good weather we're having in Santa Barbara!

That is a lot of snow for sure. I'm glad that you are all safe and snug but you must be getting a bit stir crazy by now.

That IS crazy. You all should consider moving to California. :-D

I hope you get pictures. I really don't think the ones they're showing on tv and yahoo are doing it justice.

I was wondering how Kiddo liked all of that snow!

We got the perfect amount -- 16 inches total from all the snow from last week. I hope you all get dug out soon.

Heather, like you, I'm getting sick of the snow. The only good thing: Having a sore back from shoveling gives me plenty of time to sit and read.

Ugh - bummer about all the snow. I am not a fan.

Hope to see you out of the snow soon! :)

Feet and feet of snow made for a lot of great reading over the past week and a half! I was trapped in the house for 10 days!! I downloaded a few books on my Nook along with all my "regular" books. I think I would have gone blind from reading had I not had to spend so much time shoveling out. ;)

Glad you all survived. It's been crazy, hasn't it? Today is The Girl's first day back at school, and she's excited. Staying indoors because it's too cold outside to play gets old really quick.
