Friday Finds

Friday Finds

Let's see if my "theme theory" holds up for the third week in a row ...

  1. Rainbow's End: A Memoir of Childhood, War, and an African Farm, by Lauren St. John - this reminded me of two very unique books I read by Alexandra Fuller (Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight, and Scribbling the Cat) that I really loved
  2. Surrender Is Not An Option: Defending America at the United Nations, by John Bolton - regardless of politics, this perspective of the UN from the inside sounds fascintating
  3. Dreaming the Eagle, by Manda Scott - historical fiction about Boudica (if you don't know who she is click here) - I can't believe I've never heard of this series - Boudica has always been fascinating to me
  4. Poisoned Profits: The Toxic Assault on Our Children, by Philip Shabecoff - I read Marla Cone's book "Silent Snow" about the poisoning of the arctic and found it fascinating/depressing - this one looks equally as interesting
  5. Dry Storeroom No. 1: The Secret Life of the Natural History Museum, by Richard Fortey - oooh! a behind the scenes look at London's Natural History Museum ... how cool!
Maybe this week's theme is non-fiction? Hmm ...

Rainbow's End sounds very good. I too enjoyed Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. Definitely adding this one to my wish list.
