Just a quick note to say that I watched Julie and Julia Tuesday night and LOVED it. And this from the gal (me!) who thought it would be a stupid movie!
Having read Julia Child's MY LIFE IN FRANCE, I really appreciated the Julia sections (Meryl Streep did an EXCELLENT job as Julia Child!). And being a blogger, I really appreciated the blogging parts of Julie's story. The fact that I am not a very good cook myself - like Julie is at the beginning - made it even more enjoyable. I was seriously laughing out loud MANY times.
I only watched this because I had some credit-on-account at Amazon.com's video on demand site. You can get $4.00 in free movies through the promo they have going on right now (click here for details), and this movie only cost $2.99 to watch. It was the perfect complement to my marathon of Christmas wrapping - light, fun, and a movie that kept me smiling as my hand cramped around the scissors and my last roll of tape ran out.
So ... what did YOU watch or listen to as you wrapped gifts this year?
And in case you haven't seen the movie, here's the trailer:

We watched our traditional Charlie Brown Christmas.
Merry Christmas!!
I actually saw Julie & Julia at the theater twice - once with my hubby and once with a friend. I had to keep reminding myself that was not Julia Child, but Meryl Streep playing her. I loved the movie!
I just watched this movie as well and really enjoyed it. :) Merry Christmas, Heather!
Just stopping to say Merry Christmas, Heather!

Agghh--I completely forgot I wanted to get this for Christmas for my daughter. Good thing her birthday is soon!
Glad you enjoyed the movie. I hope to see it at some point. I'm still trying to get through the book, though. It's been sitting on my nightstand for months, and I'm about a quarter of the way through. It's just not grabbing me like I thought it would.

Told ya so...
I really want to see this movie. I hope Kiddo is doing well and that you had a nice Christmas.
Hugs!
I really want to see this - thanks for reminding me! I just put it #1 in our Netflix queue. :-) Merry Christmas!
softdrink - we watched that one too!
bermudaonion - I agree, Meryl Streep really captures Julia. Glad you also enjoyed this one.
Amy - Yay! Merry Christmas to you as well.
Lezlie - Thanks, and to you as well. I miss you already!
Lisa - It should make a PERFECT gift. ;)
Anna - The book was slow starting for me as well, but I really did enjoy the "feel" of it by the end.
OpheliaZepp - yes, yes, I should have believed you ... ;)
ANovelMenagerie - Kiddo is doing great, and we did have a lovely Christmas, thanks! Hope you did as well.
Darla - I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
We watched this on Christmas Eve! I loved Meryl Streep and I loved My Life in France. Fun movie -- I was surprised by how much I liked it.
Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I loved this movie too, you've made me want to watch it again :)
Wasn't Meryl Streep wonderful! I didn't have too much wrapping to do this year, so I didn't have any wrap music (haha) to listen to. I can see how this would have been a good wrapping movie though.
Beth F - I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it as well!
Violet - I hope you get a chance to do just that. :)
Dreamybee - What?! No "wrap" music? Oh the horror! ~LOL~
I really enjoyed the Julia sections too! I actually didn't like Julie at all so even though she was a blogger i didn't feel I could relate. She was way too full of herself!!
Rebecca - The blogger sections were the ONLY times I related to Julie - otherwise she was quite irritating!
LOL. Great review. I saw the movie just before it left theaters...and was glad I did! Related a bit too much to the blogger aspect...a lot of those, whoa, kind of like me moments. I have the Julie and Julia book to read, but alas, have not had the chance to as of yet (maybe next year...haha). As for my wrapping music...I had the TV on some random station playing non-stop Christmas movies, while I fough the effects of NyQuil (darn cold). All ended well though as the presents were wrapped, and everyone enjoyed the holiday! Hoping you did as well!
I want to see this movie, but have to read the book first!
I wrap to It's A Wonderful Life each year. And each year my husband asks why I didn't wrap everything when the kids were in school (really, grab a roll of tape and help, J!)
