BBAW - Wednesday's Giveaways and Blogging Tips

Today's BBAW activity is to answer two questions, so here we go ...

What is one thing you wish you knew about blogging when you started or what advice would you give a newbie blogger?

If you want comments, give comments! Visit other bloggers and make thoughtful comments on their posts ... in most cases they'll head over to your blog to say hi and check you out.

Oh, and make sure you have something posted that is interesting to other people (unless you are really just blogging for yourself which is perfectly fine too) ... if your visitors like what they read, they'll likely come back again.

What is your best blogging tip?

If you want to know how to do something, just ask! Sometimes I post a question directly on my blog, sometimes I ask it to a specific blogger in their comment section. Bloggers love to help! If you want to try something new, make changes to your blog, or just wonder how something is done, they are totally willing to give advice and instructions. That's how I got my blog to the place it is now.

As a side note, whenever I do get some good advice in response to a question, I tag it with "Blogger Tips". You can click on that link in my tags (in the right side bar) and check it out if you're interested.

It's all about the comments, and to some extent, giveaways.

I wish I'd been paying closer attention to this BBAW stuff from the beginning, but it was so overwhelming and I didn't, and feel pretty left out now. LIve and learn, I guess.

Blogging Tip - Give yourself plenty of time to review your posts before they go up. Hastily writting posts usually end up in a different voice or with tons of errors. :)

Those are all excellent tips. It's amazing how friendly and helpful other bloggers are, isn't it?

I let a mistake or two slip past, too, but I've seen some blogs loaded with typos and missing punctuation, and that really irritates me.

I agree about the importance of commenting. Not only does it make people interested in your blog, but it also might be the start of a virtual friendship! I correspond regularly with a few bloggers, and it all started with a simple comment!

I'm an editor, so I think it's natural for me to spot typos pretty quickly. I try to be forgiving because no one is perfect, and I make them myself here and there. But if your post if full of typos, it's a turn off. It's important to proofread, and if you have someone willing to read your posts to check for errors, that's great!

I've enjoyed reading everyone's tips. They've been quite helpful.

Great advice! I really enjoyed this question -- it's very helpful to a relatively new blogger like me.

Thanks for linking to my contest!
